Yamburggazdobycha

Creating Automated Information System of Logistical Support Referenced Data

Enterprise Profile

Yamburggazdobycha is the main extractive enterprise of Gazprom, OJSC. Yamburggazdobycha, LLC was established on October 01, 1984, to develop and exploit Yamburg Gas Condensate Field that is the world's largest and that is located in the subarctic zone of the Yamal-Nenetskiy Autonomous National Area.

Having the largest geological reserves of natural gas in the system of Russia's fuel-and-energy complex, the company today ranks as second in the country in terms of its extraction and possesses licenses to develop Yamburg, Zapolyarniy and Tazovsk Fields, with their total initial reserves equal to more than 11 trillion cubic meters of gas, about 260 million tons of gas condensate and 370 million tons of oil. Yamburggazdobycha has a leading position among extracting enterprises of Gazprom, extracting about 44 percents of gas. The enterprise's personnel daily extract more than 650 million cub. m. of gas and 4 thousand tons of gas condensate.

Project's Objectives and Tasks

The main task of creating a united system of Referenced Data (NSI) is to provide IUS SAP R/3 of Yamburggazdobycha, LLC with data which reference guides and classifiers have records with a level of refinement necessary for integrating and using the records in documents of subsystems of IUS SAP R/3 of Yamburggazdobycha, LLC to solve the following problems:

  • Planning for demand for resources
  • Managing purchases of resources
  • Managing reserves of resources
  • Managing distribution of resources
  • Managing sales of resources

Solution

The solution developed by specialists from IKT-Systems Company was used to implement the project. It includes two important components:

  • Arranging for a business process to work with NSI.
  • Subsequent automation of the business process, with using software tools.

The procedure for organizing the work provided for carrying out the following measures:

  • Classification of different types of the enterprise's information on the basis of Russian and industrial branch classifiers.
  • Providing developed reference guides and classifiers with communications to corresponding normative documents.
  • Making information input and output uniform.
  • Development and installation of specialized software based on SAP CA-CL (a subsystem to maintain classifiers) and of procedures on coordinating input of new records made in SAP WorkFlow and АВАР.

Project's Results

Creating the NSI system has allowed the largest domestic gas extracting enterprise to solve strategic tasks of increasing the efficiency of managing various kinds of activities with a new information quality:

  • Creating the united NSI system based on IUS SAP R/3.
  • Forming and integrating reference guides and classifiers, created within the frames of the project, into the system IUS SAP R/3 (the reference guide on materials having 80,000 records).
  • Developing the regulations to form and maintain a united reference guide on Yamburggazdobycha, LLC inventories and services.
  • Providing the integrity, consistency and completeness of referenced data.
  • Reducing time periods for and improving the quality of preparing and executing documents.
  • Increasing the actuality of obtained, processed and stored NSI used in processes to provide logistical support to Yamburggazdobycha, LLC.
  • Reducing the number of time-consuming routine operations that are associated with information input and processing and that are performed at all stages of maintaining NSI.
  • Eliminating inconsistency in reference guides used by applications in various territorially distributed systems of Yamburggazdobycha, LLC and of data processing in IUS SAP R/3, at the expense of centralized storage and maintenance of the information.
  • Reducing the number of the same type referenced data occurrences stored at various subsidiary companies and structural subdivisions of Yamburggazdobycha, LLC, by using IUS SAP R/3.
  • Providing IUS SAP R/3 registered users with access services to NSI.
